Our polylactic acid (PLA) lids offer a secure, leak-proof fit for our EcoBowl range. PLA is produced from plant feedstocks such as corn, cassava, sugar cane or beets and provides insulation, water and oil resistance. Certified industrially compostable to the ASTM D6400 and EN 13432 standards, bioplastic materials offer a circular alternative to petrochemical plastic lids.

Industrial Composting

These bioplastic lids are certified compostable to the EN 13432 and ASTM D6400 standards for industrial composting, verified by DIN CERTCO and BPI, which requires the compostable product to:

1) disintegrate after 12 weeks, and

2) completely biodegrade after six months. (This means that 90% or more of the material will have been converted to CO2. The remaining share is converted into water and biomass – i.e. valuable compost.)
